Join us for Penn Symphony’s first concert of the Fall semester. The evening begins with Beethoven’s dramatic concert overture, Leonore no. 3, taking us on a journey from darkness to light as only he can do. One of the most popular audience favorites, Ravel’s Bolero dazzles us with its simple yet exotic melody, being repeated in order to showcase the composer’s wizardry in exploring various orchestral colors. Finally, the program concludes with the highly romantic music of Rachmaninoff’s Symphony no. 2. So rich in melodies and harmonies, the composer captures many expressive moments in this work as well as the unforgettable melodies of the 3rd movement.
This event is free and open to the public. A brief intermission will be held between Bolero and Symphony no. 2. Visit our Health & Safety page for audience requirements.
